Taigan Plummer Announces Candidacy for House District 54

Since I was a child, I was taught to “do the right thing.”

For me, that often meant sharing what little I had—whether it was a part of my lunch for a friend who didn’t have one, or being a friend to someone who needed one. It meant standing up for what was right, even when it was difficult.

As a proud citizen of Warrensburg, I’ve continued that principle throughout my life. I’ve served my community, helped where I can, and supported my neighbors—even when I didn’t have much myself. But, like many of you, I’ve watched the same issues persist in Missouri for far too long.

Childhood hunger. Lack of affordable housing. Economic hardship. These are not new problems—these are the same challenges I saw as a child. And today, I see my neighbors, my friends, reaching out for help just to keep food on their tables and lights in their homes.

As I look at our current representatives, I don’t see anyone who truly understands these struggles. I don’t see a woman representing me. I don’t see a disabled person representing me. I see people making decisions about issues they have never experienced first-hand.

That’s why, today, I am proud to announce my candidacy for State Representative of District 54.

As a disabled individual, a young mother of a neurodivergent child, and a small business owner, I understand the challenges our community faces. I know what it’s like to struggle with the systems in place—or, too often, the lack of systems that truly support us.

But I also know this: when we come together, despite our differences, we are stronger. We can build a better Missouri—one where every voice is heard, where every vote matters, and every citizen is valued. It’s time for new leadership, leadership that understands firsthand what it means to fight for a better future.
